The True Religion

Im sat here deep in thought. If this was an annual roundup of who and what and where, for the “best of” awards, who would I choose? I even went on line and typed “true religion” in the search bar and was rewarded with the top 10 return finds relating to a brand of Jeans!

How do you quantify the true religion? What criteria does a person use? Who’s perspective on each doctrine does a person listen to?

Firstly, Im not a accepting sort of guy. My life experience has shown me that what is accepted, historically, medically, spiritually, morally, mechanically etc has other methodologies that work equally as well if not better. The truth about human nature is we accept what works, and dont often look beyond that. Change and advancement comes from individuals who refuse to be boxed in by acceptance or doctrine.

I have had a deep and abiding interest  in the historical aspects of the Bible. It has been important to me that the book I cherish is a truthful one, and that the words I read and try to live by are accurate and that there is no ambiguity in the meaning of passages.

This is my understanding of the true religion. It does not have a name.It has a core set of understandings and doctrinal beliefs based on the overall message contained in the guidebook.

1/. A follower of God, has to be assured in self that the Bible is Gods word.

2/. The book of Genesis outlines mans creation and the incident that happened in the original garden home.

3/. There needs to be understanding of exactly WHAT happened when Eve was talked to and deceived by Satan.

4/. Adams response and failure to respond in a correct manner, led to the current world situation and state of mankinds short lived existence individually because of the fall into sin.

5/. The true religion needs to understand that the ongoing situation between the Creator and his disobedient angel/son/creation who became his enemy Satan, involves the earth and inhabitants, because of the accusations laid in heavenly court in Jobs times and outlined in the sufferings of Job, as to whether God is worshiped because of the blessings he gives to man or because man worships because they truly love God.

6/. The true religion needs to have knowledge of Gods dealings with the Jews as his chosen people, and the long suffering patience he showed towards the unfaithful nation.

7/. The true religion needs to understand the fulfillment of prophesy when Jesus fulfilled every aspect of scripture by his appearance and ministry at the appointed time.

8/. The true religion would need to know who God is, who Jesus is, and what the Holy Spirit is and what the relationship is between them all.

9/. The true religion would need to understand EXACTLY what Gods purpose is for mankind, and what is required of each one of us as outlined by Jesus.

10/. The true religion would need to know what is in store for us if we pick up the example of the Christ, and what we might expect by  imitating him in the worship of his heavenly father.

11/. The true religion would examine each and every doctrine in existence today and hold it to the Bible for acceptance or dismissal from the worship of God in daily life.

12/. The true religion would look to God as the “rewarder of those seeking him”  and try to live lives in the manner Jesus and his father emphasied in the Bible.

I have outlined a very general picture here of what I believe comprises the true religion. What I have found over the years, is that elements of truth and understanding appear to be in most named denominations, but can be overshadowed by huge doctrinal falsehoods. I see from my discussions with mainline religions, that a wrong doctrine can infiltrate understanding of even the most little bible truth, and distort the real picture.

So which is the “true Religion?”.

The true religion is the one which most closely adheres to the Biblical teachings, the one which has not allowed a man made doctrine to become a disgusting thing in a holy place. The true religion is the one that promotes the teachings of the son of God who came to sanctify his fathers name and became the exchange for the sins of Adam for all mankind.

When Jesus closed the covenant relationship with the nation of Israel, and opened up the relationship of God to ALL mankind including individuals of the Jewish race, he said what he said and did what he did and it was recorded in the words of the Bible. Each one of us can read it and ascertain for ourselves what needs to be done.

The true religion appears not to be found as a body. Yet as individuals, WE comprise part of the TRUE WORSHIP as asked for by GOD.

It is a lonely path. I look on the provision of prayer as an act of worship. My prayers combined with honest hearted people everywhere calling out to God in praise and supplication must be pleasing to him. The times we associate together and discuss the Bible and his mercy without false messages also must be pleasing.

SO. The true religion is…………………….. “those who worship in Spirit and Truth”.
