I appreciate any organization has its problems. In this scenario, unfortunately there are TOO MANY incidents of child abuse going unreported or covered over. I did a little research on the web and went to Silentlambs organisation and found that maybe as many as 20000 plus perps are known to your leaders and are filed away with no action taken. Some are working as congregation leaders. The rule of two witnesses has no bearing in abuse cases. Very few perps let it be known what they are doing. Im sorry. My printing the article was to show that religions who ascribe too much power to themselves, do not allow more experienced highly trained professionals OUTSIDE of the organisation deal with problems such as these. IT IS NOT YOUR ELDERS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS IN THIS CASE. IT IS THE WHOLE SYSTEM FROM THE TOP DOWN. Our God is a God of love and mercy. He will deal with people who preach in his name with more conviction if they are false his teachings. Zack, do not worry about the judgment from your elder friend. I too have had my share of detractors because of not adhering to a "set way" of doing things or not in a manner that others felt appropriate. In fact they have become like the pharisees and saduccees of Jesus times.They are busy implementing the rules made by the governing body and completely eliminated from their vocabulary compassion and mercy.Their first thoughts are to punsih the wrongdoer if they donot like them. No mercy no compassion.If the wrongdoer is a friend then show compassion and mercy.It's a very hypocritical system.There are some very very good elders as well but unfortunately they are not prominent. In fact one elder who has been in the truth all his life once Judged my spirituality. Although Jesus very clearly states in the bible donot judge your fellow beleiver.He said I was wishy washy and that should go and enjoy the world and die with it when Armageddon arrives.Can you imagine that. He told me this while I was preaching with him.If I go and report him will anyone believe me. It's my word aginst his.But God knows the truth and he will pay for it.
